  Eureka Entertainment brings Angela Mao's final film for Golden Harvest to Blu-ray, the ass-kicking, face-fisting, scorpion-tossing BROKEN OATH (1977), a Hong Kong remake of Japan's LADY SNOWBLOOD, in which Mao seeks revenge on those who brought her parents to a dark fate. 88 Films continues to wow fans of classic Hong Kong action cinema with their new 4K+Blu-ray edtion of two 80s 成龍 Jackie Chan classics, THE PROJECT A COLLECTION. The films look amazing, presented in various international edits and dubs, and contain action that set helped set a standard that's rarely been matched since. See Jackie, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao fight pirates in PROJECT A (1983), and Jackie go solo against corrupt cops and MORE pirates, along with Maggie Cheung and Rosamund Kwan in PROJECT A II (1987), then get comfy for hours of extras old and new, and a hefty (and heavily illustrated) booklet. When country bumpkin with fantastic foot-focused goose egg collecting skills applies that ferocity to the footie field, he incurs the ire of fellow footballer Dick Wei, team superstar, who happens to be in the pocket of mobsters. Fast and funny football fu in what undoubtedly had to have been an inspiration for the later SHAOLIN SOCCER. Originally set to be the third collaboration with director Lo Wei and star Bruce Lee, this film follows a street brawler (Wang Yu) working his way up the ladder of a Yakuza gang in Japan to find out the truth about his father's murder.   I've long been curious about the films one-and-done James Bond actor George Lazenby did in Hong Kong in the early-mid 1970s, so I was thrilled to get the new Eureka Entertainment Blu-ray of A QUEEN'S RANSOM (1976), his final film made in that country. More a heist/thriller than a martial arts film, it features Lazenby as an IRA agent assembling a gang of criminals and assassins to take out Queen Elizabeth (and not on a date) during a royal visit to Hong Kong. More in line with BLACK SUNDAY than ENTER THE DRAGON, though it does co-star Angela Mao and Bolo Yeung from that Bruce Lee classic, along with Jimmy Wang Yu and, unbeknownst to her, Queen Elizabeth II! Gorgeous transfer and some fun extras make it worth a pick-up, even if it's less wall-to-wall action and more plotting than you might expect.
